The Butternut House

Harold and maggie Bonanomi call their 1840 Greek Revival home Butternut House, not for its color, but because it was the name for common people of the time who dyed their
homespun clothing with butternut. Original unpolished floors throughout the home keep with the period.

Visitors will enjoy the kitchen, created from an enclosed side porch, where shelves are used instead of cabinets. All
modern items are tucked away, giving the impression of an 1840's kitchen.

Upstairs, an iron blanket crane hangs in a bedroom above a fireplace, a useful 19th century tool for keeping covers warm. Much of the furniture in the bedrooms is appropriate for the era.
