A SEW Cool QUILT SHOW

The “Lex” (Lexington Auditorium) located at 11th and Franklin Avenue will be lined with quilts Friday evening (August 17th) and Saturday day(August 18th) during the annual Lexington Community fair for your enjoyment.

A large portion of this event will showcase the work of our local students that participated in the “Summer School Sew What Quilt Shoppe” that was conducted during the summer school session in June of this year.

The students learned basic sewing skills and chose a pattern based on their skill level.  They visited the local quilt shop, All About Quilting, to purchase their fabric.  They spent the next three weeks of the summer school session reading and following patterns, cutting fabric, sewing, seam ripping, and sewing some more!!!  The math and technical reading involved was a good extension of the class-room and gave relevance to reading and math in everyday life!  They completed over 40 quilts during this summer class time.

The students are very excited for this opportunity to display their work for all to see.

This event is also open to anyone or any groups that would like to display their work as well.

This is a just for fun event and is being hosted by the local Lexington business “All About Quilting.”
